Abstract

Sustainable food security has become an important issue in agricultural development. Although previous studies have examined food access, food production, agripreneurship, and information technology separately, limited research has integrated these factors within an agripreneurship-based food security framework. This study examines the roles of food access, food production, agripreneurship, and information technology in shaping sustainable food security among farming households in West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. A total of 400 farming households were selected using a multi-stage random sampling technique across six districts. Data were collected through structured surveys from May to July 2025 and analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results show that food access, agripreneurship, and information technology significantly improve sustainable food security. In contrast, food production has no significant direct effect, indicating that higher output alone does not ensure sustainability. This highlights a shift from production-oriented to system-oriented food security approaches. Further analysis confirms that agripreneurship and information technology mediate the relationships between food access, food production, and sustainable food security. Agripreneurship strengthens innovation and income diversification, while information technology improves access to information and decision-making efficiency. This study contributes a novel integrated model of agripreneurship-based sustainable food security in rural Indonesia. The findings emphasize that sustainable food security depends on the synergy of market access, entrepreneurial capacity, and digital transformation. Policy implications highlight the need to strengthen farmer entrepreneurship, expand digital infrastructure, and improve food distribution systems.
